Poverty is not the hindrance to every success. Every person has its own capacity to do more beyond his expectations. Sometimes, the life infront of you is far more important than the life behind you. This belief motivates this family behind this success story.
“Everybody wants to be famous, but nobody wants to do the work. I live by that. You grind hard so you can play hard. At the end of the day, you put all the work in, and eventually it’ll pay off. It could be in a year, it could be in 30 years. Eventually, your hard work will pay off.” — Kevin Hart
Honestly, this family is a relative of mine and very close to my heart. They grew up in the province of Ilocos Norte. The family started with no stable job and income. With this, the siblings grow up without any luxury items. Instead of playing outside and enjoying the life of a normal kid, they were in the farm helping. Farming was part of their life before but this does not hinder them to stop studying. After school, the siblings had their own responsibility at home, some do the household chores like cooking, washing the dishes and help their parents in the field like planting and taking care of their livestock such as cow, carabao, goats and chicken. These was their daily routine and at night, they do their own assignments at school, if any. They also experienced to worked in other farms to earn money for living at young age. Despite this life they had, they are happy and contented. Contented but with dreams to improve their lifestyle and go beyond expected. So, the siblings pursue their studies to achieve their goals in life. Apart from being a normal student, the siblings are also part of the highest honor during their elementary and secondary level despite the conflict in helping their parents to provide money for food and other expenses in the family and in school to support their studies.
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” — Steve Jobs
As time goes by, expenses increase significantly due to increase of expenses in the farm to support their plant and livestocks, costs of living, expenses for schooling such as tuition fee and allowance for their children as they go to tertiary level. Their father worked double time as he goes to the farm at day time and worked as a tricycle driver at night to support their children’s dream. However, this was not enough to support all of them especially when the three children goes to college simultaneously. The two children, second and third, sacrificed themselves to stop after graduating in high school so that their eldest sister would finish her college degree in time. The two children helped their parents in the farm and find job to fulfill the needs of the family whilst the others are studying. With the goal to get out of being poor, the eldest succeed to graduate and find work after-which. Through faith in God and believing that dreams do come true through actions, the two decided to go to college despite the fact that they could not literally have enough money to support their schooling. They believe to what they can do and their faith that God provides to those who seek help. With this strong faith and with their parents support, they also graduated in college. The three younger siblings got their scholarship benefits in their municipality as they enter in college. This family worked hand in hand to support each other despite to reach each others goals and dream in life.
“There are three things you can do with your life: You can waste it, you can spend it, or you can invest it. The best use of your life is to invest it in something that will last longer than your time on Earth.” — Rick Warren
At the present time all their efforts lead them to accomplish all their dreams. The eldest sibling now had a three wonderful children and one loving husband, with the help of her husband they are now managing very well their business. The second, third and fifth are now in Metro Manila, they had a Sari Sari Store. The second child got a business with her boyfriend. The third is now a bank teller in JP Morgan Chase Bank who earns a six digits. Fourth child is now a Marketing Assistant III in BDO for 10 years. Fifth child is now a Account Manager. Their youngest is taking his Master’s Degree in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada. As a result of their hardwork their life now is at good. They can travel whenever they want to, eat whatever they want.
Be grateful and work hard on your dreams. Focus on your goal and don’t let struggles stop you on achieving your dream. You will always be never motivated, so you must learn to always be disciplined. Only you can turn your dreams into a reality. And you have everything to need to make it happen.
